  • Attending The GEM Appeal Charity Ball in Manchester

Rachel Blackburn and Kerwin Blackburn from US2U Consulting were pleased to attend the GEM Appeal Ball in Manchester for the third consecutive year. This year it had an ABBA 'Thank You For The Music' theme.

Now 30 years old having been set up in 1994, The GEM Appeal is a charity that fundraises for genetic diseases, raising money for research for the Willink Unit based at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. The charity was established by Karen Johnson with the aim to fund research into the disorder that her two sons were suffering and later died from. Several millions of pounds have been raised by The GEM Appeal since.

Rachel Blackburn said, "It was great to catch up with some of the people who support the charity, including some of those from the entertainment world, whilst raising funds for further research which could benefit so many people."

  • Having a Ball with the Mariposa Trust

US2U Consulting were pleased to attend the 2019 Mariposa Spring Ball on Saturday 6 April at the Landmark Hotel, London.

We also attended the 2018 fundraiser for the Mariposa Trust, also known as Saying Goodbye - a leading support charity supporting people that have been affected by the loss of a baby.

The event was well supported and managed to raise important funds and awareness for the cause! Pictured are Kerwin, Rachel and David Blackburn.

  • NSPCC Childline Ball 2022

We were pleased to support the NSPCC Childline 'Glamour of Manchester' Ball 2022, held at The Midland Hotel in Manchester, for the fourth time on Saturday 24th September.

The Childline service gives children and young people a voice when no one else is listening. Whatever problems or dangers they face, it gives them somewhere to turn to for support when they need it.

It was a great evening and around £90k was raised to support this charity.

You may spot that Rachel (pictured) is wearing the same dress as when we sponsored the Norfolk Recruitment Awards in 2009 - so we link this event to two pillars of our Sustainability Policy 2021.

  • Supporting the NSPCC at their Manchester Gala Christmas Lunch

Kerwin Blackburn from US2U Consulting was pleased to donate a piece of his art for the NSPCC at their Gala Christmas Lunch in Manchester on Friday 29 November. A framed print of his hand-drawn and hand-painted pop art portrait of Elvis Presley raised funds in the auction to enable 100 phonecalls to the Childline charity.

The event was hosted by TV presenter Danielle Nicholls. Kerwin said "It's great to be able to support the NSPCC again and raise money for a good cause, especially at an important time of year which a lot of children find particularly stressful and need the support of the Childline services."

The original painted is available available for sale on Kerwin's website here.

  • US2U Consulting Joins Nelson's Journey to Celebrate Its 25th Birthday

Describing the occasion as "a glamorous but equally touching night", Rachel Blackburn hosted an US2U Consulting table at the Nelson's Journey 25th Birthday Ball on Saturday 23 September 2023. Founded in 1997, Nelson's Journey has been at the forefront of helping children and young people in Norfolk with their bereavement needs.

As part of US2U's sustainability policy (read here), we have been proud to have been able to work with Nelson's Journey for over 10 years. To support the amazing work which Nelson's Journey does, US2U Consulting connects the charity with our client network and our employees to also get involved with its initiatives.

Kerwin Blackburn, an US2U Consulting team member who also has an internationally-renowned art brand, www.bykerwin.com, donated a unique, one-off hand-embellished framed art print as part of the live auction at the Ball.

Simon Wright (pictured with Rachel), the CEO of Nelson's Journey, expressed his appreciation for Kerwin's donation and extended his gratitude for "US2U's support for Nelson's Journey and young people in Norfolk." As US2U Consulting looks ahead to the future, we remain committed to our partnership with Nelson's Journey as we continue our outreach and sustainability efforts.

  • US2U Consulting Support McKinna Charity Ball 2022

US2U Consulting were pleased to support and sponsor a table at the McKinna Charity Ball 2022 which was held at Sprowston Manor in Norwich on Saturday 15th October.

This was a great night for some good causes. The event raised almost £9500 - and counting - which will be split between three chosen charities. These are the East Anglian Air Ambulance, Medical Detection Dogs and Aylsham First Responders.

We were pleased to be a part of this successful evening!
